As part of its African practice, the firm provides transactional and disputes services across French speaking and sub-Saharan Africa. We advised our clients about doing business in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Benin and Nigeria, among other African countries. The firm also recently advised a client in relation to the sanctions and the termination of the economic embargo on Sudan.

Region-specific highlights:

  • The firm’s disputes team advised one of the leading construction groups in the Middle East in pre-dispute proceedings arising from the construction of a national project in the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire.
  • The firm is involved in investment treaty claims under institutional rules brought against a French-speaking African State.
  • The firm advised a major regional construction company in claims against the Ministry of Transportation of an African state in relation to the construction of the state’s iconic bridge.
  • The firm’s team advised one of its clients in relation to structuring and adversarial matters regarding the acquisition of a major stake in an electric power plant in Ethiopia.
