Dr. Mohamed Gomaa has more than 37 years of diverse litigation and transactional practical and academic experience. His practice focuses on arbitration, mega infrastructure project, complex and large transactions, general corporate law and public international law. Dr. Gomaa has extensive expertise in the fields of construction, commercial agencies, partnerships and share acquisitions, sale and purchase transactions, telecommunications, hospitality, transportation, infrastructure, PPPs, charter parties and insurance.
Before joining YOUSSEF & PARTNERS, Dr. Gomaa was a long-standing member of one of Egypt’s most iconic firms: Zaki Hashem & Partners, where he was Senior Partner and Head of Arbitration and Projects. Prior to this, he served in the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Ministry in different legal posts, and concluded his career in diplomacy as Deputy Permanent Representative and Legal Advisor of Egypt to the United Nations in New York.
Dr. Mohamed was also Assistant to the Agent of the Government of Egypt to the Egypt-Israel Arbitration Tribunal for the Taba Arbitration Case, 1987-89 and member of the Egyptian delegation in the Taba Talks between Egypt and Israel (1985-1987). He also represented Egypt, the League of Arab States and the African Union before the International Court of Justice.
